Week 9 – SiP goes Paris

Community

This week’s word is community. According to our good friends at Wikipedia, it is defined as:

community is a small or large social group of living things who have something in common, such as norms, religion, values, or identity.

We’ve seen in this week submissions both the idea of geographical community or virtual community.

Particularly, community relates strongly to the toy photography community and to us here in Stuck in Plastic. As a community mostly active through social media, it fits in the category of community centered around a virtual space. However, creating social connections in the physical world and expanding our community into real-life relationships is also important to us. This is why we organize each year a toy safari

So what better way, than sharing some more details about the 2018 edition of the Stuck in Plastic toy safari as part of this weeks word, community!

SiP goes … in 2018

2017 is almost over but here at Stuck In Plastic, we are already planning 2018.

I hope you all enjoyed our reports about our last toy safari in Scotland (the review, the #1Toy2Share activity or Chris Rose experience) and maybe you were even able to attend our small exhibition during Bricklive Birmingham. We all had a blast there. Since we want to have fun again soon, we’ve already started planning the next one. Continue reading “SiP goes … in 2018”

Life.

If you follow the blog, you might have noticed that not much happened in the past week. Julien is on a non-disclosed island somewhere in the Indian Ocean. Boris is hanging out on some Big Inc. event in Amsterdam, Stefan is deep down in new challenges, and well, Maelick is crunching numbers in Northern Finland. It is that thing called life. It catches up with all of us and we hope we will catch up with the plastic side soon. Continue reading “#SiPgoesScotland2017 at Bricklive”

SiP goes Scotland was a blast!

SiP went Scotland.

It’s been more than a week since our toy safari in Scotland became history, but we haven’t reported about it on the blog yet. Between the Where is Anton contest, the LEGO House opening, Skaerbaek and the Ninjago Movie madness, it’s finally time to tell you how great this weekend was.

Here’s a little summary of our adventures.

Friday Morning

In the morning the ones to arrive first in Edinburgh met for a quick walk to the castle, while some others tried to fix the transport of the day (an adventure on its own). After some quick lunch and food toy photography, it was time to take the first real dip into the hometown of Harry Potter himself. We managed to visit some of the key Harry Potter locations in the city center such as Victoria Street, Candlemaker Row, and Greyfriars Kirkyard.

The first toy photo of the safari in progress!

Greyfriars Kirkyard

Kirkyard or fancy word for historical graveyard is a toy photographers dream, and before you knew it everyone was exploring locations, leaving no stone unturned. Well, kind of. Continue reading “SiP goes Scotland was a blast!”

How to integrate LEGO photography into your con

Have you ever wondered how to integrate LEGO photography into your local con?  I know I have!  I love championing LEGO photography. I think it’s a great hobby, a wonderful creative outlet and a great way to be involved in the wonderful world of LEGO, especially if you’re not a master builder. So when I come across a great idea that helps to spread the word about our fun hobby, I want to know more and share it with you! Continue reading “How to integrate LEGO photography into your con”

Events™

While we are getting all prepped for the turn around of the year into the awesomeness of 2015 we decided to take our best wishes and good intents for 2015 to the next level and added the events module to (y)our site.

The first official big event upcoming is the Las Vegas Toy event organized by Shelly and Dinoczars mid January in Las Vegas.

But we want to do more with our events.

We want to connect photographers who are stuck in plastic around the world when they travel long and far or just around the corner so we can exchange some plastic. The very first opportunity added to the calendar is Me2 crash visit to LA in a week from now.

Are you in LA on Saturday 10 January and want to show Me2 around LA and take some cool plastic shots together ?

Now is your time.

Get in touch and before we know we meet in a week from now !

Best,
Me2

PS. This is an exclusive behind the scene blooper™ picture we selected for this event™ post, enjoy :)
