It’s Friday …

Friday.

The name Friday comes from the Old English Frīġedæġ, meaning the “day of Frige”, a result of an old convention associating the Old English goddess Frigg with the Roman goddess Venus, with whom the day is associated in many different cultures. The same holds for Frīatag in Old High German, Freitag in Modern German and Vrijdag in Flemish. The modern Scandinavian form is Fredag in Swedish, Norwegian and Danish, meaning Freyja’s day. The distinction between Freyja and Frigg in some Germanic mythologies is problematic to say the least, yet for most of us it just means the day that ends the work week and starts the weekend (*) …

All godly madness aside.

Today is one of those Fridays, and earlier this week when we were looking at this week schedule here on SiP, I accidentally volunteered to take this Friday. Ouch.

Little did I know this was one of those special black Fridays (did you know it even has its own phobia called paraskevidekatriaphobia) also known as Friday 13th and if I would have played closer on the zombie (pun intended) it would have made a perfect Feature Friday post celebrating LEGO last month collection of wonderful zombies.

I did not had so much foresight, and was actually thinking of doing a classic #ff aka Feature Friday by browsing our little hashtag on IG and look for inspiration, when two things hit me.

The first was that our latest official #ff was already from before the summer (May).  A few lifetimes ago when it comes to social media so I actually had a few decades to catch up. The second was that our little tag continues to explode with awesome work from old and new photographers which sent me off in a battery draining exploration of toy awesomeness for the last few hours.

The creative flood of LEGO toy photography is just awesome and I could not select just one photographer to put him or her in the spotlight this Feature Friday but just have to thank the whole toy photography community way beyond the #stuckinplastic tag for their awesomeness and make us a most creative plastic force to be reckoned with.

In complete random and utterly incomplete order here are some of my Feature Friday recommendations this fine black Friday (including some fine articles of your favourite plastic blog).

Consume at your own risk …

Brett, cause he shot some of the typical zombiness that made this Friday special.

Vesa, cause he is flooding our feeds with his awesome new book I cant wait to get my hands on…

Pulup, cause he tricked me into thinking that LegoJacker tagged a picture to SiP. I love them both.

Chris cause he reminds us that it is about plastic and toys, not just LEGO, and the lightening on that AT/AT was just beautiful, …

Titov for making me reflect on visual styles, influences and enjoying the work, …

LegoMeee48 for reminding me of Delvaux, …

Four Bricks Tall to tap into a more serious topic of social likes …

Kristina and Shelly for keeping me updated on their adventures in Seattle, …

Mike for making me pause on telling stories …

And sooo many more of you for starting my weekend full of creative energy to take plastic places and get some shooting done (and I forgot to like you all, ouch).

Keep on tagging your inspiration to #stuckinplastic as you at least got me inspired to get some plastic shooting done this weekend and make a headstart on my significant twelve.

Happy Friday and let us know what you will be shooting this weekend !

(*) It was sad to wake up on Saturday morning, to find the world mourning about the madness Paris had suffered from this Friday eve. I am still chocked about the complete useless violence and terror we face more and more on our little blue planet. Paris on Friday, Beirut on Thursday. One would have hoped humanity had moved on this fine 21st century …
