The Fourth

The fourth advent.
Three has gone by.
Next is the turning of the light. The winter solstice.
Officially the longest night of 2018 was last Friday, but to keep things simple we like to celebrate it together with Christmas, celebrated by many people all around the world. And the winter solstice in the Roman calendar.
So today is the fourth advent.
The last Sunday in preparation. And also for us, it was preparation.

Remember last week?

We ended with a cliffhanger.
The Winter Holiday Train 10254 reached the Winter Village Train Station 10259. However, the mystery ticket 0937 did not reveal its mystery.
Maybe it will today. Maybe. Do read on if you are into Christmassy Cliffhangers just like us.
It is after all the fourth advent.

Last week the train got connected.
Yet ticket 0937 still a mystery.

Back to the beginning.

So, connecting the dots. That is what the fourth is all about. We got a winter train, a winter train station and even a winter village fire station, but the story would not be complete without some serious tracks.
Not the music ones, but the ones from set 60198 which The LEGO Group kindly provided on the last RLFM days (yes, a review of that set is coming soon).

Are you ready for those tracks and get the beat running? Read on …

A little card …

Last week I wrote a simple little post on how to create a little book with your twelve significant ones to put under the Xmas tree. A little  creative project that triggered some emotions and lots of discussions on metrics and stuff alike.

Todays post is not about looking back and does not involve social metrics. It is all about getting creative this weekend,  look forward and create your own little card to wish your friends and family (and total strangers) a happy Xmas or merry New Year. A simple postcard with your own toy still life photography (action photography from Planet Hoth or The Queens Crocket Ground is allowed to, not to mention some street photography from Rivendell).

Creating your own greeting card is actually very simple and you can do it from a picture you shot earlier in the year, or you can do like me and get creative this weekend and shoot your own little card as a mini project.

Last year I decided to make a little homage to Vesa and his eternal fields of snow on Planet Hoth and had some Benny fun on the side.

An Awesome Tree
An Awesome Tree

Both were printed as a limited edition postcard on Red Bubble and the folks at RB delivered fantastic quality at a pretty OK price. A little known secret is that you can easily upload your own work to RB as private and get your own prints without having to face the take down police of George Lucas, Disney or LEGO because you create what some would call derived or fan art (we talked about this pretty extensively before). So if you want to use the premium postcard awesomeness of RB without the risk of getting policed, just upload them as private.

This year I will give my good friends at Moo a go, and try their luxe edition of postcards. They are not cheap, far from, but I love their creative business cards and eye for quality and detail  and will have to give it a go. At least twice the price of RB, but hey, Xmas postcards are a gift from the heart and they will not contain the RB logo at the back ;)

So, if you have not yet decided on Xmas postcards this year, then get creative, get your own shoot tomorrow, package it and get your own cards from your local dealer or online pimp like RB or Moo.

And yes, if you want to exchange exclusive Xmas cards with me, just let me know in the comments below and maybe we will be exchanging NY cards this years …

Me2

PS: If you want to try out Moo, and get a 10% reduction of your first business cards or postal card, you may want to use my personal referral link by clicking here, but you can off-course also just head over to moo.com directly. This is not about making money. It is all about sharing the love of giving post cards.

Dornyika

Today was a buzzy day.

We started the day with an outdoor shoot attempt on the beach (not recommended with minus 10 and a fresh breeze from the seaside in), continued with some hot chocolate on the catwalk (no pictures either) and ended up counting plastic bubbles with Buzz to see who won the little crazy Xmas game of counting bricks.

Your response was overwhelming.

More than 70 answers were given across all our social media platforms from Instagram over twitter via Facebook to G+. The responses ranged from a few hundred to a few thousand.

Buzz did the count (and we recounted it twice) and ended up with 818 bricks in our little coke bottle (you see above how Buzz examines every single piece for its authenticity).

Both Dornyika and Iancockayne came closest with 800 bricks and so the innocent hand of Buzz had to take a second dip in the bowl and returned Dornyika as the one and only winner of our little Xmas game.

Congratulations Dorottya !

You  win an exclusive “I have been there” minifigure of Me2 and a signed 2014 Me2 Limited Edition booklet  in your mail box (just sent us your address details through the contact us form above).

Xmas Games

When Shelly left the keys to me and Avanaut for the Xmas weekend, I am pretty sure she was not expecting silly Xmas Games, yet here we are.

How many bubbles (read bricks) does this bottle of sugar nirvana contains ?

A simple question for all of you

The Me2 Crew will count every single brick, stud or plastic  bubble inside the bottle on the Xmas and the winner of the right number will be announced on the second day of Xmas here on Stuck In Plastic and win an exclusive “I have been there” minifigure of Me2 and a signed 2014 Me2 Limited Edition booklet (so you get plastic two ways) in your mail box.

Get guessing … here or on instagram (and do read the fineprint below) and may the best bubble win !

Me2

Your guess

Here comes the fine-print

We removed the copying of pictures given that we reduced the time window. We can confirm that all things plastic (except the straw) with a LEGO brand on it will be counted as a brick, even some may argue it is technically called a stud.

We are very much interested to know if you played a simular Xmas game at your family dinner table (for those of us who celebrate this solstice

The Coca Cola Company nor The LEGO Group are connected to this post or endorses the drinking of sugarfree bricks (neither do we) and this game is not suitable for children under the age of 3 or frankly anyone who would try to drink the plastic. Play at your own risk.

Awesome Tree Time

Awesome Tree

It is that time of the year again we go out and get our tree sorted.

Getting ready for celebrating the turn of the seasons, celebrating the days are getting longer, spending quality time with friends and family, age old traditions celebrated across the galaxy and beyond …

As most of you know I have something with solstices and equinoxes alike and I guess it must be the photographer in me that is just closely linked to the changes of light (my typewriter, Lyn) and is just getting excited and happy to get a little bit more sunshine to shoot those epic sunrises and sunsets across the globe after spending time with friends to celebrate around the trees.

My booklets are ready, on the way to the mailman, and this years exclusive Xmas cards are ready to be sent as well.
Xmas cards shot on location when Benny decided to help us out in selecting our little Xmas tree. They are just awesome.

Do you want a signed, limited edition, Me2 awesome Xmas card in your mailbox with a special greeting or sent to one of your loved ones with a special word from you ?

Easy, just register and comment below.

The innocent hand will select the lucky ones on Sunday eve (the 48 hours have just started now).
