Three (sugar) cubes with a coffee

Sunday morning, 9 AM (or is it 11 AM…). I need a coffee. And above all, I need ideas. I need to make some creative pictures for the review of the new LEGO Minecraft sets.
In a couple of weeks, TLG will release a series of 3 “bigfigs” and I have to prepare a post…

But first coffee… maybe with a cube (of sugar).

A Hogwarts story

It was a dark Sunday night at Hogwarts. One of those nights during which silence roams the corridors of this giant castle. A night of full moon…

Hogwarts at night

In one of the small rooms of Hogwarts, three little wizards were quietly working on something. It was Harry, Ron and Hermione, all gathered around a big cauldron, shimmering sparkles in their eyes. They were working on a potion.

Three wizards around a cauldron

“Shall I drink it?” said Harry, a spoon full of gooey liquid in his hand. And before someone had the time to say no, he put the spoon in his mouth. He could feel the hot liquid going down his throat. He closed his eyes and opened them again. And said “Well, nothing happened. It looks like you failed Hermione…”

LEGO Elves 2018 – The Fire Lion, the Wind Wyvern and the Earth Fox

Today is #ElvesDay

After the Eagle and the Water Turtle, we’re continuing our journey of exploration of the creatures from the new LEGO Elves sets. The stars of this week’s #ElvesDay are the Fire Lion, the Wind Wyvern, the Earth Fox.

The Fire Lion

The lion is found in set 41192 Azari & The Fire Lion Capture.

I had high expectations for this one. Although the lion works well against a warm sunset backdrop, I’ve often struggled with getting the photos I wanted. When it comes to photography, I’d rather choose the Fire Dragon over the Lion.

LEGO Elves 2018 – The Water Turtle

Today is #ElvesDay

Last week I started to share on the blog my photos and opinion about the creatures from the new LEGO Elves sets. For this week’s #ElvesDay, we’re having a look at the Water Turtle.

The Water Turtle

The Turtle comes with set 41191 Naida & The Water Turtle Ambush.

Winter or summer, she’s simply amazing to photograph. With the Eagle, she’s my favorite. Besides that… Not much to say so I guess pictures will speak louder than words :-)

The ideal companion for a day at the beach.

LEGO Elves 2018 – The Eagle

Today is #ElvesDay

Since my review of the LEGO Elves Dragons from last year, I’ve taken many LEGO Elves photos. First Dragons, then Minidolls, and now the creatures from the new 2018 sets. It’s been already a few weeks that I’ve decided to share on social media, every Wednesday, a LEGO Elves photo with the hashtag #ElvesDay. To celebrate the 12th Elves Day, I decided to finally compile my photos of the 2018 LEGO Elves sets as part of a series of short blog posts and share my opinion about these new creatures.

I started taking these photos in Norway in Saltstraumen during my Easter road trip, then continued in Finland, took more photos during my summer holidays in Lofoten and finally took one last photo back in Saltraumen in September.

As today is also Talk like a Pirate Day, we’re having a look at the Eagle, which would be the equivalent of a Parrot for an Elvish Pirate.

Forbidden Rock in the Forbidden Forest

This article is part of our series of reviews related to the Harry Potter and the Wizarding World Minifigures. Thanks to the LEGO Group for providing the Minifigures.

Rock ‘n Roll at Hogwarts

Did you know that Rock and Roll is forbidden at Hogwarts? Officially it’s because loud music could make the walls of the castle crumble… but there are rumors that the truth is Professor Dumbledore hates loud music. He only allowed once a concert from the Weird Sisters during the Yule Ball because of the special occasion that the Triwizard Tournament was.

So what does a Hogwarts’ resident, craving for good music, do when it isn’t allowed? He runs into the Forbidden Forests and jam for the pleasure of the wild creatures living there!

Gold Leader or A Long Time Ago…

The story so far

A long time ago there was a young boy whose friends at school had told him about a galaxy far, far away. The little boy told his father about that galaxy, too. So one day they went to the movies to find out all about it. The boy and his father both enjoyed the film as well as the galaxy. The father didn’t have too much time to dive into this new universe as he had to work a lot. But the boy sure did. And soon the characters, stories, heroes, and villains were a big part of his life.

Partying in the North – A Review of the LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 18

A New Series

A year ago, we tried something new here on the blog: a collaborative review of the Collectible Minifigures Series 17. Back then, I chose to review the Butterfly Girl. I decided to name her Aria, and since then I’ve continued to photograph her.

A year later, after a second LEGO Batman Movie and a Ninjago Movie series, here we are again with a new CMF Series soon to be released. This time, I took on the task of reviewing the (almost) full Series that Boris got from LEGO and sent me two weeks ago.

21314 LEGO Ideas TRON: Legacy

[Music] Daft Punk music [/Music]

In a digital world dominated by the color black, only enlightened with touches of neon blue or neon orange, everyone is a program.

This could summarize the universe where TRON: Legacy, movie released in 2010 (sequel to TRON movie from 1982), takes place.

Later this month, LEGO will release a new set based on this license.

Cheezzzz !!!

The first series of the LEGO Batman Movie minifigures was a mix of much-loved characters coupled with freaks, geeks, and oddities from the DC universe. Series 2 continues along the same line introducing us to even more lesser known characters and super heroes. I had to utilise google on more than one occasion to find out exactly who they were. But that being said, I think folks at LEGO have excelled themselves with this series.

Before I look at each minifigure in a bit more detail I just want to explain my idea behind this review. I wanted to give the review some focus and so came up with the idea that the Joker himself would be the photographer. I would still shoot some of the minifigures in my planned portraiture style, but also shoot some behind the scenes shots of the ‘Joker’s photoshoot’. By doing this I felt it would give me scope for some comedic setups and nice composition.

Tropical Joker

The first minifigure I shot was the Joker himself. I’m a really big fan of the LEGO Batman Movie version of the Joker. I think this minifigure, clearly inspired by The Killing Joke graphic novel, is a fantastic variant.

His summer holiday outfit has some quality printing, I especially love his sandals and card suit tattoos. He also comes with some great accessories. His rubber ducky in Joker colours even has a small puncture repair patch printed on. Seeing as he comes bundled with a camera I couldn’t resist recreating The Killing Joke cover.

Mermaid Batman

You can’t have the Joker without having Batman for him to fight and what’s the perfect batsuit to wear into battle against a tropical joker? Mermaid Batman of course! Ok, I have to admit this is one of the strangest iterations of Batman I think I have ever seen!

Luckily he’s wearing a shell bra or we might have seen a return of the infamous bat nipples! Less said about that the better

Swimming Pool Batman

Nah nah nah nah nah nah Bat Pants!

There is so much to love about this version of Batman. The dolphin accessory is such a bonus and I’m sure the printed torso will come in very handy for future shoots (although I’m sure Batman had nine abs not eight!) Continue reading “Cheezzzz !!!”
