#SiPgoesCinquecento

Contest Closed

Some weeks ago we asked you to join a little contest. We wanted to see your version of a FIAT500 in front of/next to/on top of your favorite landmark. The car itself didn’t have to be the real deal. The original from 1957. Neither one of the LEGO Creator Expert that hit the shelves recently.
You could just build one yourself (preferred out of your favorite bricks, called LEGO).

Wow!

Some of you let their imagination and MOCing skills run wild and free.
Until the deadline, there were eighty-five images all in all.
Wow!
That number is quite impressive on its own.
Some of you went outside to shoot their models in the wild, others had to stay at home with their imagination- and some more bricks to add a surrounding.
At this point, we would like to thank each and every one of you for joining in the fun and taking your chances.
You all did a great job!

The Hardest Part

The tricky bit was now on us.
Believe me, it wasn’t an easy task picking only two winners for a new 10271 LEGO Expert Creator FIAT Cinquecento. Passionate discussions and new discoveries in every picture gave us two sleepless nights. But we had to make a decision.

With a heavy heart, we ended up agreeing on two favorites and two honorable mentions. Without further ado, let us share with you the honorable mentions.

Martin and Sprockövel

Martin on his way to his hometown Sprockövel…

Denmark’s highest cheese?!

Okay! Did you know we have a mountain in Denmark? Well… we have “Himmelbjerget” (= sky mountain), this mountain is wooping 147 meters tall! I know! It is crazy! One-hundred-and-forty-Seven !
Oh, then there is the cheese! Buko with shrimps, a delicate bite of cheese!

Okay! I hope this put a smile on your face, Because that what we need these days.

Sacha joined our special cheese challenge, Natasja kicked off, and she took this blue one with style.

And the winners are…

Hey.Light

Astrid aka hey.light on her way to Italy; at least that’s what we saw here with the Azzurro in the background… and all the epic artefacts she took from her favorite landmarks.

TaDaaaaa- here comes my little homemade Fiat500 – and of course we are on our way to the sea … to Italy … with everything you could need …and maybe even a tiny bit too much luggage … in these times #stayathome this is my way of traveling … in the land of unlimited possibilities, my imagination

We hope that the Italian police were as impressed by her driving skills as we are with her picture. Otherwise, we’re afraid of her driving license…

SteelerMatt

And here’s Matthew, aka Steelermatt who went to Stonehenge AND  the Netherlands as well to just name two of his three destinations.

The Fiat is based on a couple of mocs I saw online and the available parts I had. I wanted to try something different so I created a picture frame to frame the car then tried to show a Holland 🇳🇱 themed surroundings with a windmill, canal and tulips. Enjoyed the experience of building with limited parts and also using those bricks at the bottom of my Lego boxes

Congrats to these four!

Please, send us your addresses by DM on Instagram.
Matthew and Astrid will both receive their new yellow icons, while Sacha and Martin will receive a little surprise in their mailbox.

Thank You

One more time, thank you everyone for joining in on the fun.
Keep building and snapping, stay home and stay safe.
And don’t forget to wash your hands.

Twenty-Twenty Eight

Hey there. Twenty-Twenty is in full swing. Our new SiPgoesTT challenge is out and well kicked off, we have a new exhibition in the making on the other side of Planet Earth and we are eight now.
Yep.
We are eight.
Beverley, Natasja, and Chris have joined the crew and we are super excited to have them on board for our adventures in twenty-twenty and beyond.
Not with five, but with eight core crew members to keep you delighted with awesome toy photography and creative challenges alike in twenty-twenty.

No introduction required.

Our new crew members don’t need any introduction as they have been regular friends here on the blog.

Chris Rose

Chris posted his first blog post on why toy photography in 2016. Since then he has had many creative reviews and contributions and joined us in Scotland for a toy safari along the way.

If you want to read up or just browse Chris´ posts , we put them in a list for you.
And if you don’t follow Chris on Instagram already, then now is the time.

Beverley Thomas

Beverley’s first full blog post goes back to the summer of 2018 when she was featured in our Feature Friday series. Since then she has been a regular in SiPgoes52, SiPgoes53 and a creative contributor to our LEGO photographic reviews.

Here you can find all contributions of Beverley in one nice list and also Bevvy can be found on IG.

Natasja

Our third new crew member may be better known as Anna as she goes by the alias @by_a.n.n.a on IG. Natasja made her first official appearance on the blog in an interview with Karine for the Hispabrick FFOL interview (Female Fans Of LEGO) early last year. Since then Natasja has kept us all smiling with her contributions. From the laughter in our Apocalypse challenge to reviewing the F.R.I.E.N.D.S. set for LEGO.

Natasja’s posts can be found here.

Twenty-twenty eight

Please put your hands together and welcome Natasja, Beverley and Chris to the crew.
Twenty-twenty with eight it is.

And the first real event with all eight on the calendar in twenty-twenty will be our upcoming art exhibition in Cape Town, South Africa, next month.
But more on that later next week.

The Five.
Welcoming The Three.
So we are Eight.

Best,

Karine, Julien, Maëlick, Stefan and Boris

The Eight in Twenty-Twenty

Meet Ian

TGiF- Thank Godtfred it’s Friday again.

Hello, it’s Stefan on behalf of the SiP crew. Let’s sit down for a virtual cup of coffee and talk to a friend of our little blog about themselves, their photography and about the #SiPgoes52 challenge again.

This week I thought I’d be extra clever and offer a cup of tea instead as I was going to talk to Ian from Liverpool, England. Turns out I hadn’t done my homework precisely enough:
Our guest kindly asked for a latte with sugar. (He spent some time in France.)

But now, dear readers, grab yourself an euphorigenic hot drink of your choice, lean back and enjoy our talk. Continue reading “Meet Ian”

Out Walking

This weekend we have been hanging out in Paris with some awesome toy photographers and just did not find the time to post here on the blog. We have been very actively posting on IG, though … and here is a little teaser of all that awesomeness.

More to come soon …

Meet Beverly

Feature Friday

Today is Friday and we want to feature another creative who takes part in #SiPgoes52. This time, we interviewed Beverly aka @bevvypix from the UK.

Bev’s photography beginnings

My name is Beverley but most people call me Bev. I live and work as a pro photog with a history going back over 25+ years. Growing up in the 70s, my first camera was a 126 film camera. I loved the fact that I could record a moment in time and eventually look back on it. In the 80s I later progressed to a 110 format camera and then owned my very first film SLR. This interest in photos then enabled me to then work in a photographic lab where I learned how to process films and use chemicals in order to make an image.

Week 6 – Emotion

My passion was growing every day in the photographic industry. I became more and more captivated, and as the saying goes “I didn’t choose photography, photography chose me”. In the mid-90s, I was fortunate to use what I learned so far and travel onboard luxury cruise liners doing what I loved: photography. After two contracts I returned home and met my soulmate. This made me want to stay home here in the UK, so I decided to attend art college using photography as my direction. Continue reading “Meet Beverly”

Meet Sacha

Back To The Future

If we had a DeLorean parked outside (the one with a Flux Capacitor, of course), we would take you all on a little physical time traveling. Unfortunately, there’s no time machine in our garden, so we can just offer the link to the original series of 2015. The series was called Feature Friday. The main idea was looking at the (toy)photographers behind their lenses. Continue reading “Meet Sacha”

Week 2: Confidence

Seriously? We’re already two weeks into 2018?? Awesome!

Awesome because it means that we’ve already arrived in our #SiPgoes52 challenge. The one where there’s a new word for everyone to explore every single week. All in all 52 words that you may think about. And last but not least: 52 words for you to visualize with your camera.

Week 1: Creativity

Week One of the new year is coming to an end.
For some of us, the working life is about to start again tomorrow, while others (like yours truly) have enjoyed their first weekend of the year. We started this year with a completely new challenge. A challenge we explained in detail in the last week (52) of last year in this post.

52 weeks. 52 words.

We are embarking on a year-long exploration of 52 words.
52 values and emotions and everyone can join at their own pace.
You can pick up one word a month, you can follow us on our rhythm and explore a word a week or you can just cheer along.

The 52 words of 2018 – here is a PDF version if you want to play along.

And when we shared the challenge earlier last year, we knew the four of us were committed to exploring this. We liked last years challenge. We talked about the new one extensively in our chat and hangout sessions. Yet we had no clue if you would be interested in this.
A leap of faith.
An open invitation.
Another acoustic invitation to play. Continue reading “Week 1: Creativity”

a Picture and the Story behind it

During today´s commute, I had some time to think about this month´s word: Projects.

I remembered Me2´s introduction quoting the Project Management Institute stating that projects have a definite beginning, a limited duration and an end. And I also remembered that sometimes projects may fail. And then I thought of..- well, it was another thing, but long story short:

My thoughts started with this month´s word Projects and ended with a certain picture I took the other day. Continue reading “a Picture and the Story behind it”

Because I can…

As the days are passing by and two o seventeen is growing older our journey of twelve words is with me wherever I am. Be it at work, on weekends when out and about or sometimes while taking a shower. The last days had me thinking about the word of February: inspiration.

What inspires me?
Or who does so?
What is inspiration to me at all?
A feeling?
A state of mind?
A signal that starts something in me whenever I notice it?

Two weeks ago Boris gave an insight into the origins of the word and about the different facets of it. Let me explain my idea of it and what it is connected with for me. Continue reading “Because I can…”
