Codename: Cinderella

It’s been a while since we started something without trying to define it right away.
We gave it a name — but that’s it.
And it’s not the final name either.
Just a codename.

No framework.
No schedule.
And, no weekly brief waiting to be solved.

Cinderella is an invitation to slow down and look back — not with nostalgia, but with curiosity.

It’s about returning to the images that quietly stayed with us.
The ones that didn’t chase trends or algorithms, but did something more subtle: they changed how we see.

This is not a photographic challenge.
It’s a creative journey that should land in a book this year — and, if all goes well, an exhibition next year that may travel the world.

A book.

Yes — that’s the framework we arrived at last month.
Collecting work in a book.
Work that didn’t make it into a book before (you know which one we mean).

With fewer corporate boundaries.
With a much smaller audience.
In some ways a sequel.
In other ways, a new beginning.

A fresh body of work that takes us into 2027 and beyond.

Work that inspires us — and hopefully inspires others too.

Looking back before moving forward

We’re starting by revisiting our own archives.
Not the images that performed best, but the ones that mattered most:

  • a set that made you rethink light
  • a scene that made you slow down
  • a photograph that still feels unresolved

These images often point to something bigger.
Unfinished ideas.
Recurring moods.

Visual questions that don’t let go.
The goal isn’t to recreate them.
It’s to understand why they mattered.

To find inspiration to keep exploring.
To dig deeper.

And we’ll do that by looking closely at what we put in front of the camera in 2025 in the next couple of weeks. The crew is going through their body of work. Boris took a first take at his cars, and Bev followed with a short trip back to the future.

And there is more to come in the next few days and weeks.

Individual projects, shared direction

From here, the path becomes personal.
Each of us moves into an individual project.
For some, it’s already underway.
For others, it may only appear once the looking-back is done.

We may invite each other in.
But everyone sets their own direction.
And rumour goes Boris will break the ice with Project H. in the coming weeks.

Others will follow very different paths — and that’s exactly the point.
What connects the work isn’t subject matter or style, but intent:
images made to be spent time with, not just scrolled past.

Finding a theme without boxing it in

We’re not naming the book yet.
And we haven’t set a theme.

That’s intentional.

The theme isn’t something we want to decide upfront.
It’s something we want to discover along the way.
It will grow out of patterns, tone, shared work, and conversations — not rules.

Think atmosphere rather than topic.
Tone rather than instruction.
A shared feeling, not a uniform look.

The book should feel like a conversation between voices — not a checklist.

The book

By summer, the outline of the book should be there.
Not just as a set of images, but as a rhythm:

  • how the work moves from one photographer to another
  • where pauses and quiet moments belong
  • how paper, print, and sequence support the story

This isn’t about volume or speed.
It’s about presence.

A book we want in our own library.
On the coffee table when friends visit.
A way to share our passion — and our work.
A book made by ourselves, for ourselves.

A book of images we’ll bring with us into 2027.

An open invitation

If this resonates, you’re welcome to join — in your own way.

You might:

  • create a small personal photobook of twelve images
  • collaborate with a creative partner here at SiP (have a look at our Discord – we created a dedicated channel)
  • or simply let this way of working influence what you already do

There’s no weekly assignment.
No deadline pressure.
No need to post.

This is a reload and reset of creative energy — not a productivity exercise.

Where this leads

This year ends with a book.
Next year opens with an exhibition.
We’ll start at Vita Magasinet and may meet with some of you in our next toy safari in 2027 at Vita Magasinet, Sweden (we will share an update and a date poll later on as well)

After that, we hope to send the exhibition out into the world.
Where it goes, and how it grows, is still part of the story.
And maybe you’ll want to invite the travelling exhibition to your city and work with us (again, ping us on Discord).

But that’s for next year.

For now, we begin together — without needing to know exactly where it ends.

The SiP Crew.
