The SiPgoesTGIF theme for this weekend’s photography challenge is: Africa
Africa, home of the lesser flamingo. These magnificent birds are known to congregate at lakes in Kenya, Tanzania, and South Africa. When they gather during peak breeding season, their numbers can reach millions transforming the lakes into a breathtaking spectacle of pink.
Not what you pictured when you read “Africa”? You’re not alone. Often when people hear “Africa”, they think “dusty”, “hot”, or “wild and dangerous”. In reality, Africa is a uniquely colorful and diverse place. The challenge is to celebrate that so take your toys on a safari or showcase some of the diverse cultures and wildlife of Africa.
Celebrate diversity
There are 54 countries in Africa. There are more than 3,000 different groups of indigenous people living in Africa and it is estimated that about 2,000 different languages are spoken on the African continent.
Feature amazing wildlife
There are over one million species of animals in Africa, including both the heaviest (elephants) and the tallest (giraffes) land animals on Earth.
Showcase breath-taking places
Africa is a treasure trove packed with some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Many films have capitalized on this beauty by using it as a backdrop in front of which the drama unfolds.
A friendly word of advice, avoid the “yellow filter”.
The task
Create a photo in which you showcase/celebrate the color and diversity of the African continent.
