A walk down the high street

This blog post is part of a series about the new LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigures Series. Thanks to the folks from LEGO for providing us a box of Minifigures that we sent to 9 creative toy photographers to review for the blog.

It was a typical Saturday. The sun was shining and LEGO ShtacyP had things to do. She hurried into town with a long list of errands to run. But she knew better than to head outside on a beautiful day without her camera. Afterall, you never know what sights you’re going to see in LEGO City…

There’s always a chance to practice your street photography when you’re down in LEGO City.

LEGO City was bustling as usual, but ShtacyP was able to get all of her jobs done pretty quickly. She got money out from the ATM, posted a letter, and grabbed a newspaper. That meant she had plenty of time to snap some candid shots of regular city residents going about their business.

Emmet

It’s hard not to notice Emmet out and about. His grin shines across the town, his enthusiasm, infectious. Always listening to his favourite song and carrying a coffee, he was heading into town too. But boy, was ShtacyP happy! He had headphones these days and wasn’t blaring it out of his phone speakers like he used to.

On days like this, it really does feel like ‘Everything Is Awesome’.

Overpriced coffee for the swamp creatures

Emmet brews his own coffee at home now, after realising that paying $37 a coffee was a bit much. Larry’s Coffee Shop is just next door though and Emmet always makes sure to say hello to anyone stopping by for a cup of Joe. Today he came across the Swamp Creature family, who were catching up and enjoying a big plate of patisserie (and attracting the attention of that dog!).

“Loving that tattoo-lederhosen combo!” yelled Emmet to Mr Swamp Creature.

A stop by Geoff’s Toy Shop

Emmet had to try really hard not to go into Geoff’s Toy Shop. He did already have all the latest minifigures and collectible teddy-bears though. Oh, but those balloons! And who can resist a conversation with the lovely owner Geoff, who is always dressed up as a giraffe even though it means he barely fits in the shop. You should hear the theme song on his TV adverts too, it’s almost as catchy as ‘Everything Is Awesome’!

All the cool kids buy the latest toys from Geoff’s. Everyone would be so sad if it were to close down.

Benny’s SPACESHIPSHOP!

Every day Emmet would go down to the end of the street and say hi to the owner of the SPACESHIPSHOP!, and his best friend in the world ever, Benny. With his new bionic arm Benny was even better at fixing people’s space ships these days. As a result, the business was booming and he could afford to splash the Classic Space Logo over all his gear. Benny couldn’t hang around for a chat though as Kenny had brought in his space rover for a tune-up. And it was time for Emmet to head home anyway. That sixth cup of coffee of the morning doesn’t make itself!

“Hi Benny! Hi Kenny! Send my regards to Lenny and Jenny!”
