Like my friend Brett, I also had an amazing year. 2016 was a year filled with photography, new friendships, toy photography related travel and lots of photography meet-ups. The year started out strong and finished even stronger with many amazing experiences in between.
Here are a few highlights from my year on Stuck in Plastic:
- Becoming a recognized LEGO Fan Media Site
- Becoming regular contributors to Bricks Culture Magazine
- Brett Wilson becoming not only a regular contributor but a full fledged member
- The amazing awesome toy photography meet-up – Seattle edition
- Participating in a G+ Mentorship
- Starting The Basics series
- Personally writing 300 blog posts
- Reaching out to the community for more guest posts and having the response be incredibly positive!
- Helping to bring toy photography to the attention of Google+ so that now it’s being actively promoted on Google+ (more on this one soon!)
- Google+ helping to promote the upcoming toy photography meet-up in San Francisco (mark your calendars for May 11-14, 2017)
Last year when I wrote about my personal goals for the coming year they revolved round the technical side of photography. While my new years resolutions didn’t manifest themselves in the way I thought they would, they did lead to the series: The Basics. I’m proud of this series, not only because I learned so much along the way, but because the community responded positively. Expect more of these types of posts in the coming year.
I’m not going to make any grand New Years Resolution’s this year. One of the things I learned from my recent Google+ mentorship was to simply enjoy the present; appreciate where you are and where you’ve been. In the coming year I want to spend more time lying in the grass and looking at clouds. I will of course continue to help build this community and practice my own version of toy photography. I believe that with our partnership with both LEGO and Google+ we have an amazing foundation to grow from.
I would be remiss if I didn’t take a moment to say ‘thank you’ to everyone who has made this year possible. There is no way we could do what we do without your participation. Thank you for your comments, your questions, for entering our contests, for helping to spread the word about us, for creating amazing photography and for generally being Stuck in Plastic with us.
Thank you or another fabulous year and I look forward to sharing whatever comes our way in 2017 with you.

Really it encouraging to us to have such a strong and supportive reader! I won’t even go into your clever toy photos – they really are inspiring! My latest photo of Mr Tumnus was inspired by you.
